Importing routes or way points to Garmin Mobile XT

Normally you will install routes to Garmin Mobile XT using MapSource's "transfer..." and your Pocket PC/Smart phone connected to your PC's USB. If it is not your case, there is another method to transfer routes to Garmin Mobile XT.
  • Before you start make sure you have installed Mobile XT and a decent routable map on your device of the area of the route (preferable City Navigator). Make sure Mobile XT is not running on your device.
  • Make sure you have the route and/or waypoints in a .GPX file. If it's another format, use MapSource or another tool (for example Tyre) to convert it to .GPX format.
  • Connect your device to PC
  • Copy .GPX file to folder /Garmin/gpx on the device (not on the SD card!). Call the file CURRENT.GPX. If there is no /Garmin/gpx folder on the device, then make it (there should at least be a /Garmin folder with a couple of .NVM files in it).
  • On your device start Mobile XT. After clicking "I agree", it should note it's importing the routes/waypoints. (After successful import, Mobile XT will remove the /Garmin/gpx/current.gpx file)
  • In Mobile XT go to "Manage my data" / "Routes" / "View Routes", the new route should be there. If the .GPX file contained any waypoints, you can find them under "Manage my data" / "My Locations".
